Standard Vacuum is a company that owes its success to quality and craftsmanship.
Based on our experience with having successfully rebuilt thousands of vacuum pumps and boosters, we have developed specific procedures for each model of pump and refined them to guarantee the best possible results from the rebuilding process. These exacting and thorough procedures insure that your pump receives the best possible attention and care.
The following is a brief overview of the repair process for a typical oil sealed vane pump.
RECEIVING AND DISASSEMBLY
After being received, logged and assigned a job number, the unit is fully disassembled and receives an initial cleaning.
All parts are inspected and measured for wear or damage.
LINE ITEM QUOTATION
The customer receives a full report/quotation as follows:
- A list of damaged or worn parts
- Costs to bring the unit back to like new performance
- Where and when possible Standard Vacuum will make recommendations to prevent future failures, improve uptime and reduce cost of ownership.
CUSTOMER APPROVAL
All other work only proceeds after the customer approves the line item report/quotation.
NO EVALUATION CHARGE
Pumps found to be beyond the point of economical rebuild will be scrapped on site or can be returned disassembled to the customer. We will make every effort to quote an identical or equivalent replacement pump based on our current inventory of surplus.
- CLEANING
The unit is meticulously cleaned using a variety of methods depending on the part to be cleaned and the nature of the contamination.
These include:
Chemical and /or ultrasonic bath
Plastic shot beading*
Hand cleaning with small wire brushes and wheels.
* Plastic beading by hand is very time consuming but cleans the worst deposits with no possibility of metal wear or distortion, insuring the best performance from even seriously contaminated units.
Finally, all parts receive a wash down to remove all vestiges of contaminants.
- REPAIRING & REFURBISHING
Where possible and authorized, damaged shafts and plates may be refinished using plasma flame welding technology, saving the cost of new parts or saving a pump for which new parts are no longer available.
All plate and shaft sealing surfaces are honed and refinished to insure maximum performance
- REASSEMBLY
The unit is carefully reassembled with new seals, o-rings, gaskets, springs, valves, bearings, etc.
To insure best performance and reliability only quality components are used and all clearances and tolerances are precisely set to factory specifications.
INITIAL BURN-IN and TESTING
The reassembled unit enters a rigorous test program consisting of up to 24 hours of run/burn-in. During this period the unit is:
Repeatedly flushed with special cleaning fluids to remove any trace of contaminants and cleaning agents
Continuously monitored for unusual noise level, motor amperage, oil leaks and ultimate vacuum.
FINAL TEST and Quality Assurance
Every vacuum pump or booster is given a final test and inspection to assure that it meets our stringent parameters for quality and performance.
No products leave our facility unless they have met specifications having been tested by a trained technician using calibrated test instruments.
PAINTING AND PACKAGING
The final stage of the repair process is to carefully paint our rebuilt products in the O.E.M. color scheme or color of your choice.
Packaging is purchased or constructed to insure that products arrived undamaged.
WARRANTY
Standard Vacuum warrants all our rebuilt products (pumps and blowers) to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 12 months. Stokes piston pumps are warranted for 18 months.
